Tobacco-use
cessation program offered
GHI has partnered with the American
Cancer Society (ACS) in offering a program to help your
group members stop using tobacco. Because smoking and
other forms of tobacco use constitute one of the nation’s
leading causes of cardiopulmonary disease, as well as
excess health care expenditures and productivity losses,
an effective cessation program is essential for preserving
the health of your group members and controlling your
health-coverage costs.
With
the ACS program, available to your group at no additional
cost, your group members and their dependents will receive:
- Telephone
counseling to help each participant create a personalized
strategy for quitting.
- Nicotine
replacement therapy, including nicotine patches, gum,
and lozenges.
Studies
show that telephone counseling doubles a person’s
chances for quitting and that the combination of telephone
counseling and nicotine replacement therapy quadruples
chances for success.
GHI is excited to include the ACS tobacco-use cessation
program as a supplement to your GHI benefits program.
Please note that this is a value-added program that is
not underwritten by GHI.
